NORMAN — John Michael Loeffelholz passed away suddenly Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at the age of 55. A memorial funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Church in the St. Charles Boromeo chapel, 421 East Acres, Norman.
John was born April 29, 1958, in Norman, to Eugene and Delores Loeffelholz. He was the middle of three children. He grew up in Norman and lived most of his adult life in Noble. John attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church elementary school and Norman Public Schools, graduating from Norman High School in 1977.
He worked for Coca Cola, Coors Manufacturing; POMCO Inc. Oil Field Machine Shop, and Weibee Steel as a welder. He was a skillful flame spray welder, respected for his abilities in this unique field of construction. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish.
John was preceded in death by his father, Gene Loeffelholz and a stillborn son, Michael.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Leona (Wilson) Loeffelholz; two children, son David Loeffelholz and daughter Amy Loeffelholz and fiancé Dalton Murray; mother, Delores Loeffelholz; sister, Deborah Sheffield and her husband Robert, of San Antonio; brother, Steve Loeffelholz and his wife Robin (King) Loeffelholz; sister-in-law, Carolyn Phillips; brother-in-law, Mac Wilson; many nieces and nephews; and grandnephew, Keelin Key, who was John's best buddy.
The family has requested no flowers. In lieu, donations may be sent in John's name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society which is dedicated to assisting those in need and seeking charity and justice, 421 East Acres, Norman, OK 73072.
John Michael Loeffelholz was placed in the care of Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.
