NORMAN — Martha Marie Skinner, 79, of Norman, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013. Martha was born June 9, 1934, in Shelby, Neb.

Martha is finally with her beloved George, who predeceased her only six months ago. The two of them were inseparable on earth, and now the two of them can live forever together in heaven. After a six-month hiatus, George and Martha are reunited to continue their 63-year love affair.

Martha was a loving mother to her six children. She loved going shopping with her daughters. She loved shopping so much that she returned most of her purchases so she could spend more time shopping.

Martha was employed with the city of Moore for more than 20 years as a purchasing agent where she made many life-long friends. Martha finished off her career working at a boy’s group home, where she began her day at 10 a.m., took a two-hour lunch and then left at 3 p.m. to meet George. Martha’s dynamic spirit and sharp tongue will be remembered by all the children and coworkers she encountered.

Martha loved to sit on her deck drinking coffee or sipping wine and playing penny slot machines. She was the best “Mimi/MeMaw” a grandchild could ever ask for to her 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Martha loved to spoil her grandchildren by feeding them all the junk food they could eat, playing ball with them in the yard and playing a mean game of Spoons, where Martha would fight her family to ensure she got a spoon.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, George Skinner; parents Venice and Marie Muzny; and brother, Gene Muzny.

She is survived by daughter, Cindy Virgin and her husband Blake of Norman; daughter, Sandi Wilson and her husband Matt of St. Louis; son, Mark Skinner and his wife Debbie of Alva; daughter, Kelly Clark and her husband Shawn of Moore; son, Stephen Skinner of Moore; and daughter, Carrie Miracle and her husband Bob of Lawton. She is also survived by her brother, Ralph Muzny and wife Shirley of Arkansas; sister, Lavonne Means of Moore; brothers Sam Muzny and wife Patti of Oklahoma City and David Muzny and wife Sherri of Oklahoma City; and sister, Shelia Ross and husband Leroy of Spring, Texas. Finally, Martha is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Jeff and Emily Virgin, Elizabeth Clements, Mary Catherine and Caroline Wilson, Kellcie and Lane Skinner, Ethan Clark and Lawson, Grace and John Miracle; and two great-grandchildren, George and Jack Clements.

The Skinner family would like to thank the health care professionals of Excell Hospice, Chanel, Ursula and B.G., and to Home Instead Senior Care, Cheryl, Pat, Julie and Kelly/Connie, who provided Martha with wonderful and compassionate care.

The family will greet family and friends at a Wake service at 6 p.m. Friday at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 800 NW 5th St. in Moore. The funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, with Father Jack Feehily officiating. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Norman.

Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel in Moore.
