NORMAN — Marvin Wayne Hill was born to Mural (Bo) and Marjorie (Usry) Hill on July 17, 1959, in Purcell. He passed this life Nov. 8, 2013, in Oklahoma City at the age of 54 .
He was a lifetime resident of Noble. He attended school in Noble and graduated with the class of 1977.
During junior high and high school, Marvin enjoyed playing sports, especially football, baseball and track. After High School graduation he enrolled at East Central State University in Ada and received a Bachelor’s of Science in social work in 1981.
He pledged to the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity in 1978 and held the position of president between 1979 and 1981.
Marvin was employed with the State of Oklahoma for over 30 years. His career began as a social worker with the Child Welfare Unit, Department of Human Services.
He later transferred his state service to Court Related and Community Services (CRCS) in Cleveland County.
He held many positions with the Office of Juvenile Affairs, juvenile probation and parole counselor; assistant district supervisor; program manager, administrator of programs, Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center, and at the time of his death, assistant division director, Community-Based Youth Services Division, Office of Juvenile Affairs.
Marvin was always a caring, committed, loyal, dedicated, hard working employee whose passion for helping youth was evident throughout his career. He strived to always provide each client an opportunity for a better life.
He often went above and beyond his job duties to help those in need, spending countless hours of his own time helping youth and families in the system. He was a role model to others to go the extra mile for a youth in need.
Marvin demonstrated strong leadership skills and he had a proven commitment to his family and the community at large. He always had the desire to give back in a meaningful and enduring way. He was instrumental in the development of the Noble Coalition and Noble Juvenile Court. He was also a member of the Noble City Council.
Marvin and Jolyn (Jody) Lewis were united in marriage on June 29, 1996, at the Noble Assembly of God Church where they both still attended today. They raised two wonderful children that Marvin was very proud of.
In his spare time Marvin enjoyed organic gardening and restoring old tractors. He was a dedicated Christian man and dedicated to his family.
Marvin was preceded in death by his father.
Those who survive him include his mother, Marjorie Hill of Noble; his wife, Jody of the home; a daughter, Bryanna Hill of Norman; a son, Christian Hill of the home; one sister, Marilyn Carter and husband Tommy of Norman; a niece, Lauryn Carter; two nephews, Matthew Carter and Jeremy Carter; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Noble Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow at the Noble IOOF Cemetery. Services were arranged and directed by McMahans Funeral Home.
