NORMAN — Jerry Lavon Clary, 79, of Norman, died June 12, 2013, in Norman. He was born on March 15, 1934, in Oklahoma City to Herman “Daddy Clary” and Ruby “Mur” Clary.
Jerry graduated from high school and began attending OSU before being drafted into the Navy. He returned from the Navy to work in the family business. He then moved to Noble in 1969 to open Clary’s Auto Supply. After selling the business, Jerry went to work for Vista Chemical until retiring in 1992.
Jerry married Joan, the love of his life, in 1980. They lived in Norman and were married for 33 beautiful years. The two enjoyed boating, traveling, gardening, reading and most of all they enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Jerry loved being with family and friends and helping others.
He was an active member of the First Christian Church and a handy man to all of Norman. He is remembered as a kind and loving man to his wife, family, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Herman Clary; mother, Ruby Clary; and sister, Nadine “Pete” Dane.
He is survived by his wife Joan Clary; son, Hal and wife Debbie Clary; son, Craig and wife Tracy Clary; son, Steve and wife Gina Powell; daughter, Jennifer and husband Bill Jaqua; grandchildren, Rachel and Jon Mullen, Cherlyn and Tom Edwards, Josh and Brittney Powell, Brooke and Bobby Tang, Aaron and Laurel Jaqua, Randi and Steven Jones, Chris Clary, Jeremy and SarahBeth Jaqua, Jared and Kristin Clary, Jon and Olya Powell, Shannon and David Burget, Gabby Powell, Parker Inglett; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Helen and husband Bill Goforth; mother of his sons, El Wanda Hollars; and his very special little dog Taffy.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church of Norman. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to First Christian Church, 220 South Webster, Norman, OK 73069.
