NORMAN — Zachary D. Allen, 27, was born in Chickasha on Nov. 24, 1985, to Derrelyn Allen Shurbet. He grew up in Noble and currently lived in Norman. Zack died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in Norman.
Growing up, Zack played baseball, basketball, football and wrestled for Noble Public Schools. Zack rode bulls and spoke of it often. He truly was a city boy with a cowboy heart.
After completing high school, Zack began working in Norman. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was to go fishing, mountain bike riding, wakeboarding or just being in the sun.
Zack was charismatic, thoughtful, comical, easy-going, loving, caring and, most of all, charming. He enjoyed life and wanted those around him to enjoy it, too. He had a way of bringing a smile to your face in an instant.
He loved spending time with his family, friends and his dog, Duke, whether it was to grill out, watch a movie, listen to music, play the guitar or attend a concert. He had so many passions and hobbies that he shared with us all. He always knew a little something about everything and he would search to the end of the world to prove you wrong if he thought he was right. Quite often, he was actually right. He will be forever loved, missed, cherished and always have a home in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his uncles Kenneth, Rick and Lois Zachary; and grandpa, Jerry Smith.
Zack leaves behind his angel, Ashley Hatfield and little princess, Breelyn Allen; parents, Brent and Derrelyn Allen Shurbet; brothers Jake Strutton, Wyatt and Skyler Shurbet; father, David Smith and wife DeLana; brothers Matthew and Dawson Smith; sister, Mallory Smith; his nano, Linda Zachary Joslin; grandparents, Derrell and Susan Allen; nephews Noah and Asher Strutton; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous other family and friends.
At the family’s request, please make donations for Breelyn to the Zack Allen Tragedy Fund, First Fidelity Bank, P.O. Box 32282, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
Zack’s memorial service will be 10 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Noble.
