NORMAN — Jerry Ronald Hall, 76, of Norman, died Friday, April 5, 2013, after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas More University Parish in Norman. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Norman.
Jerry Hall was born Oct. 6, 1936, in Wheelwright, Ky., to Hattie and Hillard Hall. He married Frances Moss on Sept. 14, 1957, in Kent, England. Jerry served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953-1980, retiring as a chief master sergeant. He also worked for Boeing as a program manager from 1980-1993. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Norman.
Jerry was a devoted husband who loved his family, golf and traveling. He especially enjoyed spending time in England. Jerry not only enjoyed golf, but he was a “near scratch” golfer who achieved every golfer’s dream not only once but twice, a hole-in-one. When it came to cars, appliances or even aircraft, he could fix most anything. He excelled as a crew chief/aircraft mechanic on fighters early in his Air Force career. Jerry entered the Catholic Church through RCIA on April 11, 1998, and felt privileged to serve as a eucharistic minister. He also willingly gave hours of his life volunteering in the V.A. hospital system and caring for the homeless by working and serving in shelter food lines. Most impressive was Jerry’s courageous 16-year battle with cancer. He was an inspiration to his family, friends and all he met while in treatment over the years. Jerry will be remembered and missed by all whom he touched in his life.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Frances; daughter, Vanessa (Ron); son, Mark; daughter, Danielle (Rusty); sister, Joan Hoskins (Ray); brother, Hillard; and his brother, Charles (Donna). His is also survived by nine grandchildren who loved him very much, Aaron, Alanna, Cameron, Allison, Jonathan, Whitney, Garrett, Macy and Rylie.
Arrangements for Jerry and his family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.
