NORMAN — Linda “Sue” Blanchard, 68, of Little Axe, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, in Norman. She was born June 1, 1946, to Henry C. and Pauline (Brady) Johnson in Concho.
Sue attended Noble High School and was a life-long resident of the Little Axe area.
She married George Blanchard on Feb. 28, 1962, in Texas.
Sue worked as a mud-mixer and laborer alongside her husband, George, for 5 B Construction. She worked for several years at Little Axe Public Schools and later worked for Griffin Memorial Hospital. In 1987, she went to work for Thunderbird Bingo as the original caller and floor manager.
Sue was a proud member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe. She loved going to the casino and playing bingo and was known as a “world-renowned bingo player” and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry C. Johnson; and sisters Edna and Aline.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 52 years, George Blanchard of the home; two daughters, Beverly and Doug Felton of Newalla and Virginia Adele “Tee” and Greg Poafpybitty of Little Axe; son, George Jr. “Bob” and Denise Blanchard of Moore; mother, Pauline Johnson of Norman; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Diane Kay “DK” Johnson; three brothers, Henry “Buddy” Johnson Jr., David Lee Johnson and Lewis “Jim” Johnson; and other extended family and friends.
Tribal rites were Tuesday evening at the Blanchard family home in Newalla.
Burial is today at Blanchard Family Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.
