NORMAN — Robert Lawrence Graves, 83, of Moore, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014. He was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Austin, Minn., to Robert B. and Melba Irene (Roche) Graves.
After he retired from 20 years of service in the Air Force as a radio communications technician and instructor, Robert was later employed in, then retired from, a long career in civil service at Tinker Air Force Base. He liked photography and traveled to many countries in Europe.
Robert was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Norman. He liked eating at Red Lobster in Norman and ate there every day for 17 years, always ordering salmon with a double order of broccoli. He had a deep, committed love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irma Graves; parents, Robert and Melba; and brother, Roger Graves.
Robert is survived by three sons, Kurt Graves and wife Rose of Lake Nebagamon, Wis., Harold Graves and wife Carole of Dallas and Richard Graves and wife Charise of Albuquerque; two daughters, Barbara Morgan of Norman and Monica Mansur and husband Mike of Shawnee; seven grandchildren, Chasity Morgan, John Graves, Mark Graves, Kelli Graves, Dylan Graves, Brandon Mansur and Tyler Mansur; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Ferguson and husband Francis of Austin, Minn.; brother, Daryl Graves and wife Linda of Minneapolis; and ex-wife Shirley Graham of Moore.
Visitation was 6 p.m. Thursday at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 3939 W. Tecumseh Road in Norman, with a funeral Mass to follow at 10 a.m. today. Burial will be at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home in Moore.
