NORMAN — James Imhoff, 85, life-long resident of Norman, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, in Norman. He was born Nov. 7, 1928, in Norman to Henry Joseph and Clara (Strategier) Imhoff.
James married Patricia “Pat” Collins on Aug. 10, 1952, in Norman and together they raised four children: Nathan, Danny, Doni and Debi. He was employed by Babour Short Construction for 33 years before retiring in 1991. James was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norman. He enjoyed trout fishing and hunting, watching NASCAR racing, trips to Colorado, gardening with Pat and tinkering on lawnmowers. James would meet early in the morning with his buddies at Braum’s for coffee. He taught his family and grandkids life lessons, like changing a tire.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Krystle Morris; brother, John Imhoff; and sister-in-law, Katherine Imhoff.
James is survived by his wife of 61 years; his two sons, Nathan and his wife Evelyn Imhoff of Norman and Danny and his wife Leona Imhoff of Houston; his two daughters, Doni Fox of Norman and Debi Morris of Chickasha; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for James will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St. in Norman. A prayer vigil will be at 6 p.m., and family will be present to receive friends until 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiated by Father Dan Latourneau, 211 N. Porter Ave. in Norman, with interment following at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Norman.
Arrangements for James and his family were placed in the care of the Vice family at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.
