Amy Rea Hardin Hiatt

NORMAN — Amy Rea Hardin Hiatt, 87, of Norman, died March 7, 2013, following a lengthy illness. A third-generation Oklahoman, she was born April 27, 1925, in Oklahoma City to James Franklin Hardin and Emma Frances Moore Hardin.

Arrangements are by John Ireland Funeral Home, with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. A private family services will be held at a later date.

In 1945, she married Leslie Ivan Hiatt of Ellsworth, Minn. She lived most of her adult life in the Bartlesville and Tulsa areas, moving to Norman in 2000 to be near family following the death of her husband in 1999. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Norman.

Mrs. Hiatt was preceded in death by her parents; three older brothers who died in infancy; an older brother, Herbert Hardin; an older sister, Helyn Hardin Holland; and a son-in-law, John David Freiberger.

She is survived by three daughters, Susan Brooks and husband, Mark, of Overbrook, Kan.; Priscilla Freibergerof Tulsa; Nancy Dilley and husband, Jim, of Norman; son Daniel Hiatt of Boulder, Colo.; younger sister, June Hardin Day of Lockhart, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Hiatt’s family is deeply appreciative of the loving care provided by the staffs of Grace Living Center of Norman and Good Shepherd Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
