NORMAN — Loretta Kathryn Hasenfratz Witt was born April 9, 1927, to parents Ignatl Hasenfratz and Teressia G. (Bower) Hazenfratz in Covington.
She was member of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Noble. On April 18, 2014, she heard her name. Someone calling, someone she knew, calling her home, anxiously she rose ... to Heaven ... her home. Loretta was raised and attended school in and around the Perry area. She first married B. G. Edmondson, having three children. She then married Donald Witt in 1960. Don and Loretta were married until his passing in 2010.
Loretta was a small-framed woman not quite five feet tall with auburn red hair, fair completion and hazel eyes. A tender touch from her small hand showed us all a heart full of love and kindness. Underneath all that gentleness, standing straight, strong and determined was a lady we all looked up to and loved, not only for who she was, but what she was. A cook, seamstress, nurse, clerk, business owner, farmer and home maker, daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend. We will remember her ... sometimes even see her through our heartfelt memories ... and hear the words, “I love you more ... Grandma,” we will feel once more.
With a great passion for animals, she raised rabbits, pigs, horses, cattle, mules, sheep, cats, dogs, goats and yes, even worms. This was only accomplished by her passion and love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ignatl and Teressia; her brother, Merle Hazenfratz; and husband Don Witt.
She is survived by her sons, Lynn Edmondson and wife Barbara, Lee Edmondson and wife Betty; daughter Sherriee and husband John Pierce; five grandchildren, Kim, Margie, David, Johnnie and Dale Ann; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, Bailer; the cat of the home; sister-in-law Elenor; and a host of family and friends.
