NORMAN — Glenn W. Ellis Sr., 93, of Norman, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014. He was born Feb. 8, 1921, in McAlester, to Hansard Ellis and Zona Peeler Ellis.
Glenn served in the U.S. Navy in WWII from 1941- 1945, and then worked as a chief fire and safety officer for Griffin Memorial Hospital and was also the president of The Rose Society after retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Rachel M. Ellis; brothers Gordon Ellis, Willard Ellis and Lloyd Ellis; and sisters Opal Ellis, Ina Miller and Mayme Dill.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Edna Ellen Ellis; sons Jerry Hailey, Doyle Hailey, Glenn Ellis Jr. and John Ellis; daughter, Glenda Kay Harjo; brother, Gene Ellis; 13 grandchildren, Michael Pelfrey, Neil Z. Ellis, Courtney Boaz, Jessica Casey, Jennifer Casey, Joey Casey, Andy Hailey, Doug Giessman, Jennifer Giessman, Elizabeth Graves, Christina Dischinger, Anthony Hailey and Nicholas Hailey; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Havenbrook Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Southern Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1201 W. I-240 Service Road, Oklahoma City. Interment will be 2 p.m. today at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee.
