Henry Bartlett Poore

Henry loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, was an avid fisherman and was never happier than when he had a fishing rod in his hand and a fish on the line. He taught his children, grandchildren and many others to fish and to enjoy nature. One of his favorite pastimes was to relax on the front porch of his small retreat at Lake Texoma with friends and family.

Henry and Jane were blessed with four children, Larry Steven Poore, Robert Bartlett Poore, Jack Robin Poore and Nancy Jane Poore Smith; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Henry’s parents and oldest son, Steven, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jane; two sons, Robert Poore of the home and Jack Poore of Kingston; one daughter, Nancy Smith and husband David of Norman; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Lynne Poore of Norman; one sister, Doris Trousdale of Sachse, Texas; one brother-in-law, Lee Johnson and his wife Patsy of Weatherford; one sister-in-law, Helen Vines and her husband Chris of Perryton, Texas; his 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, all of whom adored their Paw Paw; numerous nieces and nephews; and his pet black Scottie dog, Heidi-Ho of the home.

Memorial donations may be made in Henry’s honor to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Medical Center, 921 NE 13th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73074; or Norman Food and Shelter, 104 W. Comanche St., Norman, OK 73069.

In his own words, Henry wished to express his appreciation for his life by saying, “I Love my family, I Love my Lord, and I Love my Country.”

Arrangements for Henry and his family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.
