NORMAN — Robert Lee Beller, age 73, of Goldsby, passed away peacefully at home Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, surrounded by his family.
Robert was born July 17, 1940, in Blanchard. He was the eighth child of 10 children born to Luther Theodore Beller and Clementine Elizabeth (Madden). Robert grew up as a farm boy living in the Goldsby and Washington, Okla., communities. As a young man, he learned how to work hard by working with his father and brothers in the cotton and broomcorn fields.
He continued that same hard work ethic throughout his life and even unto his death.
Robert married the love of his life, Dorothy Hyde, on Dec. 23, 1960. Together, they raised three sons while working and living in the Goldsby and Washington area. In his earlier years, he worked for Kunkels Heating and Air before going to work for his brother, Calvin, at C&S Heating and Air in Goldsby.
After working 20 years in the heating and air conditioning business, he started his own company in 1981, B&H Construction. Today, the business operates out of Goldsby as B&H Construction specializing in pipeline with more than 150 employees.
Robert believed in working hard and when not at work, he wanted to spend quality time with his family. He was an active supporter in both communities of Washington and Goldsby, and he was a faithful member of the Goldsby Baptist Church. Throughout the years while his children and grandchildren were in school, he became their No. 1 Washington Warrior fan. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. When he had some free time of his own, Robert enjoyed horses, fishing, collecting old cars, watching OU football and watching Thunder basketball.
He will be remembered as a wonderful husband and a loving father and grandfather. He was a special brother and a terrific uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.
