James ‘Jim’ Wyatt

NORMAN — James “Jim” Wyatt, 77, was born in a mining camp in Kingman, Ariz., in 1935, to parents Fred Sherman Wyatt and Hazel Marie Doak Wyatt. They lived in many places before settling in Tulsa, where he graduated from high school.

After playing some college football he married Janice Streets in 1955. They had three children, Jackie, Larry and Connie. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service where he retired in 1990.

Jim was a long-time season ticket holder for OU football and enjoyed many kinds of sports. Golf was a particular hobby he enjoyed, even moving for a time to Hot Springs, Ark. to enjoy the golf resort there.

He moved to Breckenridge, Texas in 2012 to live with his daughter and her husband. He joined the Lord’s Old Time Gospel Church. Known as grandpa to all, he was an active member and prayed for others and his family, until the end.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

He is survived by his children Jaqueline “Jackie” Stahl of Channelview, Texas,  Lawrence “Larry” Wyatt and wife Charlotte of Sterling, Benny and Connie Kilburn of Breckenridge, Texas and his grandchildren, Jason Wyatt of Moore, Rusty Kilburn of Breckenridge, Texas, Heather Stahl of Channelview, Texas, Cassidy Foreman of Breckenridge, Texas and Hana and Tori Bailey of Sterling.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Lord’s Old Time Gospel Church Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Jim was a long-time supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

In lieu of flowers he requests his friends support his beloved charity.

He will be greatly missed.
