Alfred ‘Arvon’ Pierce

NORMAN — Alfred “Arvon” Pierce, 66, departed this life Monday, May 20, 2013, in Oklahoma City. Mr. Pierce was born to Alfred Leon and Artis (Willoughby) Pierce on Oct. 6, 1946, at Pauls Valley.

He graduated from Choctaw High School and joined the National Guard. He returned to Norman and worked for Gilt Edge Dairy and worked in the oil field. He was self-employed as Arvon’s Backhoe Service for many years. He and Patsy Pierce were married on March 26, 1983.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Debbie.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy; brother, John Pierce; one niece, Margie Holman; three nephews, Johnny Pierce, Richard Offutt and Kerry Mellott; eight great-nephews; one great-great-nephew; and many other family and friends.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment will follow at Fairview Maguire Cemetery.
