NORMAN — Larry Michael Russell passed from this life on Sept. 6, 2013 after a brief illness. Larry was born on December 22, 1951, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to Alvin Louis and Julia Lucille (Newberry) Russell.
After completing high school and electrical technician training, Larry began his 40-plus year career as an electrician in the commercial-industrial field. He enjoyed his work and his family of electricians in the IBEW and looked forward to new challenges every day. Larry also loved going fast just about any way possible; drag racing, NASCAR, four-wheelers, dune buggies, on the road or off the road, it didn’t matter.
Larry also enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with his friends and family and cooking with his smoker. One of the things that Larry loved was his Tabasco sauce and he ate it on just about everything, including potato chips. Most of all, Larry loved his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, and he will be missed dearly.
Larry is preceded in death by his mom and dad, Alvin and Louise Russell; brother, John Alvin Russell and step-sister, Elwanda Louise Harsley. He is survived by his mother, Julia Lucille Roebuck and Phil Fields; brothers, Louis Russell of Norman, James Russell and wife Debbie of Shawnee, Earl Russell and wife Peggy of Holdenville; sisters, Judy Irick of Seminole, Shirley Bennett and husband Kenny of Shawnee, Cathy Russell and Kathy of McCloud; Step-sisters Mary Williams and husband Roy of Noble, Linda Jarvi and husband Al of Norman, Dorothy Finley of Norman, Brenda Jackson and husband Clifton of Grand Prairie, TX; step-brothers Steve McWilliams of Norman, Jimmy McWilliams of Norman and a host of nieces and nephews and family and friends.
Visitation will be at Havenbrook Funeral Home from11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday Sept.r 9, with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that same evening.
Services for Larry will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Lakeside Church of God, 4400 Alameda St., Norman, OK with interment following in Maysville Cemetery, in Maysville , OK.
