NORMAN — Earl “Dwain” McCown, 75, of Norman and formerly of Ada, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman.
Services are planned for 11 a.m. today at Criswell Funeral Home chapel in Ada, with Earl Hood officiating. Dwain will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Eva Olga, at Rosedale Cemetery under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home.
Dwain, born Feb. 5, 1938, was the son of Samps and Edith McCown. He married Eva Olga Levya on Feb. 16, 1956, in Odessa, Texas. The couple lived most of their 52 years together in Ada, until relocating to Norman in 2005, due to illness.
Mr. McCown was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose passion was loving his children and grandchildren. For more than 35 years, Mr. McCown was a second-generation commercial brick mason, whose family was well known for their master craftsmanship.
Mr. McCown was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eva Olga, on Sept. 6, 2007, and son, Dwain Jr., at the age of 2.
Survivors include three sons, James McCown and wife Dana of Cary, N.C., Randall McCown and wife Tammy of Norman and Rick McCown and wife Susan of Norman; grandchildren Chynea Ah You and husband C.J. of Norman, Hunter McCown and wife Marsee of Ardmore, Dillon and Belle McCown of Norman, Aubrey Land and husband Brenton of Cary, N.C., and Taylor McCown of Cary, N.C.; great-granddaughters Makiah and Atiana Ah You of Norman; great-grandson, Kellen of Ardmore; and another great-grandchild on the way.
