Woodrow Lawrence (Larry) Willoughby

NORMAN — Woodrow Lawrence (Larry) Willoughby died suddenly Tuesday, July 9, 2013. He was born May 22, 1944, in Norfolk, Va., to Woodrow and Hazel Willoughby. He moved to Oklahoma and married Jacque on Oct. 10, 1980.

He was a leader in the community, a great salesman and an avid golfer. He and Jacque were Madison Elementary and Irving Middle schools PTSA presidents; he served on the Norman Public Schools Citizen Advisory Board, Gifted Advisory Board, and Staff Development Advisory Board. Larry never said no to a request for serving others.

He received many community awards — among them, in 1996, Volunteer of the Year for Service to Youth and Education. In 1998, he also received the Oklahoma State Public Relations Association Partners for Excellence Award. He was also an active member of Crosspointe Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jacque, and his children Matthew Willoughby and his wife Debbie of Hurst, Texas, Jeremy Willoughby of Moore and Amanda Henrichs and husband Brian of Ocoee, Fla. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kaila, Kelcee and Jeremiah Willoughby, and stepgrandchildren Ashley and Connor Chapman. He is also survived by his brother, Donnie Willoughby and his wife Beth of Columbus, Ga.; his sister Judy Collins of Raleigh, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Crosspointe Church in Norman. Interment will follow at IOOF Cemetery in Norman.
