Joseph Robert McClure

A gathering of family and friends of Joseph Robert McClure will be 1 p.m. Friday at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home -- Chapel in Moore.

Mr. McClure was born Jan. 8, 1970, in Ardmore, to Bob and Joni McClure. He grew up in Norman with sister Missy, twin brothers Toby and Cody and puppy Zoe Elizabeth.

He graduated from Norman High School and from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in industrial engineering. He became interested in astronomy and history and was intrigued by how things worked. He also developed a great love for the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Francis Schaeffer. However, in helping people and even homeless animals, and in loving Jesus, Joe discovered his true joy, according to family members.

Family members said his life is a huge blessing to all his family and friends. It always has been and always will be, they said, adding Joe is greatly loved and alive furthermore. Family members said they "thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for Joe, and with Joe, rejoice in the hope of the glory of God."

Joe's family includes Glenda and Raymond Wade, Shawn Wade and family, Randy Wade and family, Michael McClure, Dona McClure and Jim Robinson and family, Maggie McClure, Joseph McClure, Melinda McClure, Howard and Carolyn Johnson, Chris Johnson and family, Jennifer Barrow and family, Henry and Luzelle McClure and Roy and Carolyn Baird.
