NORMAN — Lawrence Beller, 81, of Norman, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014, at St. Thomas Regional Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Lawrence was born May 14, 1932, in Norman, the fifth child of 10 children born to Luther Theodore Beller and Clementine Elizabeth (Madden) Beller.
Lawrence grew up a farm boy living between Blanchard and Washington. At an early age, he learned the value of hard work. He attended Blanchard Schools and before he finished high school, he had to go to work to help support his family. Lawrence enlisted in the United States Army and was proud to serve his country.
On May 19, 1957, in Purcell, Lawrence married Frances June Campbell, a young lady from Washington. They made their home in Norman, where together they raised three sons, Jerry, Gary and Jeff.
Lawrence worked in the water department for the city of Norman and retired as a supervisor after more than 33 years of dedicated service. After he retired from the city of Norman, he went to work for his brother, Robert, at B&H Construction in Goldsby. He worked there until his health began to fail.
Lawrence was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather; he was also a special brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed.
Lawrence had many hobbies throughout in life, including, camping and fishing with his family, traveling and going to OU football games. When his sons were younger, he enjoyed watching them play sports. However, one of his favorite things to do was hanging out with his brothers and spending time with all his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Clemmie Beller; sister, Viola Mayo; and five brothers, Willie, Paulie, Isaac, Calvin and Robert.
Lawrence leaves behind his wife, Frances of the home; three sons, Jerry Beller and wife Nici of Atlanta, Gary Beller of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Jeff Beller and wife Suzanne of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; brother, Roy Beller of McLoud; two sisters, Vina Martin of Bonham, Texas, and Linda Hyde and husband Lonnie of Washington; five grandchildren, Adonis, Alex, Reeves, Kelsey and Korey; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
