NORMAN — Jerome “Jerry” Paul Peters passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, in Midwest City. He was born Sept. 19, 1941, to William Martin and Bertha Edna (Mosier) Peters. He grew up in Norman and spent most of his life in Purcell and surrounding communities.
His primary occupation was a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed trail riding in his two-mule-powered wagon and participating in Wild West re-enactments at Westerrn Heritage festivities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Patrick J., Donald A., Edward M. and infant brother, Desmond.
He is survived by sisters, Teresa Sasser of Chesapeake, Va., and Lorraine Bruce of Norman; brothers Michael A. Peters of Norman and Robert J of Argyle, Texas; his children Marcus and Vicki Peters of Ardmore, Greg and Sherri Swift of Norman, Vicky Martin of Norman, Robin Groff of Byars and Dean and Susan Peters of Purcell; his grandchildren Shelby, Samantha and Reese of Ardmore, Rodney and Bryan Swift, Shantele, Stephon and Tayler Peters, Kaelan, Riley and Brody Groff and Blake and Eric; and one great-grandchild, Kingston Peters.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at John M. Ireland Funeral Home chapel in Moore. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of John Ireland Funeral Home.
