NORMAN — Wayne E. Shobert was born Oct. 13, 1937, in Noble to Pleas and Annie Kirby Sloan Shobert. He departed this life Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, in Noble at the age of 76.
Mr. Shobert was a lifetime resident of Noble. He attended school in Noble. He and Carolyn Madden were united in marriage on Aug. 16, 1958, in Noble. They resided in Noble until their deaths. They were married 53 years before she preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 2011.
Mr. Shobert was employed with W&W Steel and Acme Fence before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, camping, working on tractors, visiting with his many friends, meeting with his classmates from the class of ’57 once a month for breakfast and, most importantly, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn; two brothers, Melton and Richard; and one sister, Norma Jean Johnson.
Those who survive him include his son, Wayne Shobert and wife Sheryl of Noble; his daughter, Susan Holland and husband Randy of Noble, two brothers, Tom Shobert and wife Kay of Moore and Calvin Shobert and wife Charlotte of Okemah; two sisters, Lucille Edwards and husband Bill of Anadarko and Nelda Morris of Temple; three grandchildren, Amanda Wilson of Noble, Sarah Kinnamon of Noble and Amanda (Nicole) Shea-Shobert; three great-grandchildren, Garrett Wilson, Claire Wilson and Madeline Kinnamon; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at McMahans Funeral chapel in Noble.
Interment will be at Dripping Springs Cemetery in Noble.
