NORMAN — Jerry Lee Mize was born to Loyd and Elbia (McJimsey) Mize on April 6, 1948, in Norman. He departed this life Friday, April 12, 2013, at his home in Norman.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Crosspointe Church in Norman. Rev. Glenn Quirk and Jerry Rhodes will officiate.
Mr. Mize was a lifetime resident of the Norman and Noble area. He attended school and graduated from Noble High School. He and Martha Morrison were united in marriage on Aug. 26, 1987, in Norman. He retired from the University of Oklahoma as a custodian with 20 years of service.
His grandchildren were the love of his life. He enjoyed gardening, OU football, reading and watching old movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leroy; and one sister, Cenith Smith.
Those who survive him include his wife, Martha of the home; four sons, Nathan and Matthew Mize, both of Norman, Bobby Barnhill of McAlester and Timothy Barnhill of Noble; three daughters, Sara Mize of Norman, Gloria Roberts of Moore and Rhonda Simpson of Colorado; one brother, Frank Mize of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Myrtle Coates, Laveda Hensley and Vivian Lairson, all of Noble; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Interment will be at Fairview Maguire Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today.
Services are arranged and directed by McMahans Funeral Home.
