NORMAN — Gayla was born to Wm. and Betty (Becknell) Houck on July 7, 1958 in Norman. She departed this life April 18 at her home in Lexington, at the age of 54.

Gayla attended school at Norman. She was employed with the University of Oklahoma in the custodial department, and for the last six years she was employed with Poor Boy’s Restaurant in Noble.

She and Mr. Ron Oates were married for 12 years. She enjoyed shopping, going to garage sales, working in her flower garden, watching OU football games and loving her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and brother Larry Houck.

Those who survive her include her mother Betty Houck of Noble, husband Ron of the home, son Charles and Twila Johnson of Davis, daughter Bobbie Jo and Jared Dellitt of Noble, two stepsons; Mike and Terry Oates, five brothers; Bruce Becknell, Willie, Robert and Rick Houck, four sisters; Donna Williams, Sheila Eldridge, Sharon Smith and Shirley Boston, 11 grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at McMahans Funeral Chapel. Bob Usry will officiate.

Interment will be at Fairview Maguire Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today. Arrangements are by McMahans Funeral Home.
