NORMAN — Rosemary Gibson, 90, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2013, in Burkeville, Va. She was born July 13, 1922, in Parthenon, Ark., to Russell and Madge Phillips.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.
She graduated from Central High School in Tulsa. She was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where she also served on committee’s affiliated with the university. She was actively involved in the Pen Women’s Association and was a published author. She belonged to St. John’s Episcopal Church in Norman and enjoyed singing in the choir. She moved to Lynchburg, Va., in 1993 to be near her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Larry Newell; husband, Arrell Gibson; husband, Newton Newell; and grandson, Spence Newell.
Rosemary is survived by her children Tommy Newell, Vicki Newell Wheeler and Rita Newell McDonald; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granchild.
She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be truly missed. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
