Verna Lucille ‘Lucy’ Stine

NORMAN — Verna Lucille “Lucy” Stine, of Pauls Valley, passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 94.

She was born in Cleveland County on Feb. 7, 1919, to John Henry and Virgie Lee (Hankins) Thompson. Lucille married Albert Lee Stine, of Norman, on Feb. 17, 1934.

In 1952, after a period in west Texas, Albert and Lucille’s young family settled on a ranch in Pauls Valley, where they raised livestock. In that same year, Lucille began what would become a life-long and dedicated career in medical assistance, first at Pauls Valley Hospital under Dr. Ray Lindsey, then with Dr. Jim Lindsey and his local practice. With her passion for caretaking and family that extended everywhere from her kitchen and prized garden to her patients, friends and community, Lucille filled many special roles in the lives of everyone she touched, and always with a smile.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lee Stine; grandsons Michael Lee McConnell and John Allen Stine; her brothers Cilvin, Jim and Junior Thompson; and sisters Lila Grimes and Jewel Dodd.
