NORMAN — Fred Timpson went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, in Norman.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Norman.
Fred was born on Feb. 23, 1950, in Fort Sill to Maurice and Irmgard Timpson.
He graduated from Lawton High School in 1968 and moved to Norman to attend the University of Oklahoma, earning a degree in mechanical engineering in 1975. Fred was an Eagle Scout, a member of the ROTC and a member of the LKOT Engineering Club at OU. He was a pilot, played the guitar and loved hunting and fishing with his dogs.
Fred worked as a petroleum engineer for Union Oil Co. in Oklahoma City, then Casper, Wyo., Mack Oil in Duncan and Entex Petroleum in Oklahoma City. Since 1979, he was self-employed as a petroleum engineering consultant based in Norman, working for several independent oil companies, supervising drilling and completion operations.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Timpson; his brother, Ken Timpson; and stepfather, Army CW4, Aubrey L. Turner.
Survivors include his mother, Irmgard Turner of Norman; stepbrother and wife, Michael and Viola Turner; sister, Kristina Turner; stepsister, Carrie Rager of Indianapolis, Ind.; and beloved dog and companion, T Bone.
