William ‘Bill’ Hansmeyer

NORMAN — William “Bill” Edmund Hansmeyer, 81, of Norman, lovingly known as “Dedad” was born Oct. 15, 1931 to Nola Elsie and August Frederic Hansmeyer. Bill was called to his heavenly home Friday, May 3, 2013 in Oklahoma City.

Born and raised in Norman, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bill was united in marriage Aug. 21, 1953 to Patsy Steely.

Following his time in the military Bill earned his associates degree and began his career as an electrician. He became a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Future Farmers of America (FFA), and the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). Bill enjoyed gardening and was an avid bowler. As a member of the USBC he had five sanctioned 300 games. He loved to socialize and spend time with family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his first wife Patsy in 1982; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife Ramona Hansmeyer; daughters, Gayla Palmer and husband Joe, Diana Schlueter and husband Val; stepchildren, David Bratcher and wife Shayla, Terri Working and husband Ken; sister Eloise Green and husband Doyle; brothers, Kenneth Hansmeyer, August “Babe” Hansmeyer and wife Darlene; grandchildren, Candice, Carissa, Camille, Lindsay, Lauren, Sydney, Jarrett, Carson, Alicia, Ashlee, Brittany, Skya and Shawn; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Brooklynn, Kai, Kamron and Joshua; nieces and nephews, Sherry, Keith, Joyce, Randy, Gary, Teresa, Ricky, Marti, Natalie, Stacey, Crystal, Denise, Sharon, Bobby, Danny and Suzy.

Memorial contributions can be made in Bill’s honor to the Oklahoma Heart Research and Education Foundation.

The family will receive friends at Primrose 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Primrose Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
