James (Jim) David Travis

NORMAN — James (Jim) David Travis was born June 11, 1955, in Georgia and passed on Friday, May 10, 2013, in Conroe, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Joe and Vera Travis; and sister, Betty.

He is survived by his wife, Diana McHugh; stepson, Jason McHugh; grandson,  Korbyn McHugh; granddog, Kenzie; brother, Robert Travis and wife Vicki; and sister, Theresa. Numerous nieces, nephews, other dear relatives and friends also survive.

Jim served 10 years in the Air Force, where he studied radio repair and communications. Jim was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in 1983. It was then that Jim began working contract services for the armed services until 2006.

In 2009, Jim was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma and, as a strong man, he didn’t let it slow him down much. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

Services will be 4 p.m. Thursday in the Conroe Funeral Directors chapel, with Rebecca McGee officiating. The viewing will be from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel. 

Graveside will be Saturday at Sunset Memorial Park in Norman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to MD Anderson Kidney Research at mdanderson.
