NORMAN — Lawrence Drinen, 82, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, at his home. Lawrence was born July 19, 1930, in Pevely, Mo., to William Henry Drinen and Virginia Alice (Manning) Drinen.

He lived most of his life in and around St. Louis and Hillsboro, Mo. Lawrence joined the United States Marines and served his country proudly. Lawrence was sort of a jack of all trades and most recently retired from the Missouri Highway Department after more than 27 years of service. On Oct. 12, 1997, he married Barbra Jean Morgan and moved to her home in Lexington. Lawrence did not have any living children, but when he married Barbra, it didn’t take long for him to fall in love with her family Lawrence was a faithful member of the Twelve Corners Baptist Church. He built the cross just above the baptistry and felt much honored to do that. Lawrence was a gentle giant, a kind and generous person. Anyone who knew him had a friend for life. He was a wonderful provider, a good husband and a best friend and soul mate to Barbra.

Lawrence leaves behind his wife, Barbra Drinen of the home; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Simmons and husband Terry of Noble and Twila Rogers and husband Robby of Norman; step-grandchildren Ryan Simmons, Cody Simons, Blake Rogers and wife Samantha, Jacob Rogers, Cassandra Edwards and husband Isaac, Lindsey Kimbrue, Rachel Kolb and husband Billy; step-great-grandchildren Tye, Tia, Jamie “J.J.,” Destiny, Katelyn, Jasmine, Jaiden, Ruby, Hailey, Collin, Emily, Kayleigh, Myleigh and Gabrielle; three sisters, Betty Ann Keife and huband Gene of Hillsboro, Mo., Alice Buren of Ellisville, Mo., and Wilma Head and husband Lee of Perryville, Mo.; his brother, Charles Drinen and wife Tiny of St. Louis; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. today at the Twelve Corners Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Noble IOOF Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Twelve Corners Baptist Church at 15601 E. Etowah Road, Noble, OK 73068.

Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
