Larry Edwin Heister

NORMAN — Memorial services for Mr. Larry Edwin Heister, 57, a lifelong resident of Norman, will begin 2 p.m. Tuesday in The Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman with Pastor Joe Grizzle officiating.

Larry was born Aug. 18, 1955 in Oklahoma City the son of Edwin Gene and Edna Florene (Ellison) Heister. He passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 30, 2012 at the HealthPlex in Norman.

Larry attended the Norman Public Schools, graduating from Norman High School in 1973. A year later, Larry was united in marriage to Miss Kathleen Higgins on May 18, 1974 in Norman.

Larry attended the University of Oklahoma for a brief time before beginning a career in the oilfield. After several years as a pumper, he found his true passion in the recovery and towing business. Larry began his own company, Capital Towing & Recovery, operating the business until his death. Larry was know as “Big Daddy” and developed the reputation as the best in the business often training others. He was a selfless person with a tender heart, often helping others with anything he could to lighten their burden.

Larry was blessed with the talent to fix just about anything, often sharing that gift with those in need. He enjoyed his riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with his wife and Sooner Football. Boomer Sooner!

Larry's greatest passion in life was his family. He adored his two children, Jake and Andrea, and was always involved in coaching their sporting activities. He spent quality time with his children, teaching them things like, how to rebuild an automobile carburetor, change a flat tire, install a ceiling fan and many other tasks that helped them to become more self-sufficient.

Larry and Kathy are expecting the arrival of their first grandchild just anytime. Larry has been carefully crafting a baby bed for his little granddaughter and just completed it before he passed away.
