NORMAN — Jewel Helen Morgan, 91, was born to James and Allie (Burks) Hilderbrand on Aug. 24, 1921. She departed this life on May 24th, 2013, in Norman.
In 1940, she met Herman Morgan at the Norman IOOF Lodge while he was calling the square dances. They soon fell in love and married.
Together they raised four children.
A very spiritual person, Jewel loved having people around her and always looked for the best in everyone, never judging or criticizing others.
She especially loved her family and enjoyed her time at the lake with family members. Later in life she relaxed playing bingo and watching Sooner football.
She was a graduate of the St. Anthony Nursing Program and received her LPN license.
She started her nursing career at Griffin Memorial Hospital. After her retirement 15 years later, she worked as a nurse for the Haddock Clinic.
She loved her job at the clinic and became lifelong friends with coworkers and patients.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, James; granddaughter Sherri Little; and seven siblings.
She is survived by three daughters, Janice Mathews, who was her loving caretaker for the past several years, Helen Lowery and husband Jerry and Barbara Jones and husband Jim; one son, Woody Morgan and wife Sherry; 11 grandchildren and step-grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Noble IOOF Cemetery.
No visitation will be held. Directed by McMahans Funeral Home.
