Jess Ray Kelley

NORMAN — Jess Ray Kelley died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, in Lexington, at the age of 87 years, three months, 15 days.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wadley’s Funeral chapel. Interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery under the direction of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

Jess was born May 15, 1926, in Lexington to Odis Jackson and Almina (Helcel) Kelley. He was raised and attended school in Lexington, graduating around 1944.

He was inducted into the United States Army in August 1944, serving proudly during World War II. He was honorably discharged in July 1946 after serving in Rhineland and central Europe, where he earned many military decorations, including two Bronze Stars.

Jess and Ima Jean Rollins were married in Lexington in 1950. Jess loved to hunt, fish and the New York Yankees.

Jess was preceded in death by his parents, Odis and Almina Kelley; wife, Ima Jean Kelley; and siblings Jay Kelley, Wyman Kelley, Guy Kelley, Bill Kelley, Kenneth Kelley, Janeice Moody, Hester Edmondson, Ima Owens and Louise Fore.

Survivors include his daughter, Cathy Chapman of Lexington; granddaughter, Holly Edwards and husband Rich of Oklahoma City; great-granddaughter, Peyton Olivia Kelley Edwards of Oklahoma City; and many other relatives and friends.
