NORMAN — Services for Lillie Augusta Herman Wilson, 89, of Norman will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 at Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church with burial to follow at IOOF Cemetery. Family will receive friends Monday at Primrose Funeral Service from 6 to 8 p.m.

Lillie was born March 4, 1924, in Beggs to Augusta Mae Conn Herman and Steve Price Herman. She passed away Sept. 20, 2013 in Norman.

She lived a short time in the panhandle of Texas and Southeast Oklahoma prior to her family moving to Norman.

Lillie graduated from Norman High School in 1942. While attending school, she met her future husband, Ralph Dolen Wilson, a student at the Oklahoma University who later enlisted in the Army Air Corps. She and Ralph were married Sept. 4, 1942, in Houston, Tx. She lived with her parents in Norman during WWII while Ralph was flying combat missions in Europe and worked at the Navy’s North Base until he returned.

She and the family lived at various military installations, including Japan, during the US occupation in 1948. The family returned to the United States in Sept. of 1951.

Lillie was active in the Officer’s Wives Club at the bases where they were stationed. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader and taught Sunday School. After her husband retired in 1962, she worked for a prominent surgeon as a medical assistant in Norman for seventeen years.

Lillie loved to paint china and teach porcelain painting. She was very active in the Porcelain Artist of Oklahoma and served as President of the Oklahoma Porcelain Artist in 1998.

Lillie loved life and her family. She was already ready to try new things and see new places.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; brother Murrel Price Herman, and sister Virginia Maxine Herman Hawks.

Lillie is survived by her husband Ralph; daughter Susan Lee Wilson Owen; son Ralph Dolen Wilson II; grandchildren Bethany Ann Craddock Reirdon, Randall James Craddock II, Amy Rebecca Wilson Young; great-grandchildren Patrick J. Reirdon, Matthew J. Reirdon, Will Zachary Craddock and Victoria Young.

Services have been entrusted to the care of Primrose Funeral Service.
