Alan Grubb

NORMAN — Alan Grubb, 74, a life-long resident of Norman, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013. Alan was born April 3, 1939, in Poteau to Roy Bernard and Iris Ophelia (Stewart) Grubb.

He was a Norman High School graduate and later attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his BA in sociology, his MSPH in environmental science, and his Ph.D. in human ecology.

Alan served on several boards and organizations, including the Cleveland County Board of Health, the American Lung Association and Meals on Wheels, to name a few.

He was an avid reader, a world traveler and loved the outdoors. He was a gifted high school athlete and played briefly in college. In his adult life, he enjoyed playing tennis and continued to play until his illness no longer allowed.

Alan loved his grandkids greatly and always put his family first. He will be deeply missed by countless loved ones and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Greg Grubb; and his brother, Joe Grubb.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Grubb; daughters Kim Kampf and husband Ward of Dallas and Lisa Hibbard and husband Dave of Norman; brothers Don Grubb and wife Sharon and Dan Grubb and wife Patti, all of Norman; sister, Kathryn Wilburn and husband Sam of Sarasota, Fla.; grandchildren Karley Kampf, Harrison Kampf, Chase Hibbard, Ali Hibbard and Dylan Mattingly; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
