NORMAN — Johnny Lee Mitchell died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, in Norman, at the age of 72 years and 26 days. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Denver Cemetery in Norman under the direction of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Johnny was born Sept. 12, 1941, in Wilburton to William and Lottie (Ward) Mitchell. He was raised and attended school in Wilburton until the age of 12 when his family moved to Midwest City. Johnny was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1961, proudly serving before being honorably discharged.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering with things, especially lawn mowers. Johnny raised chickens and was a family man. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Spring Hill Freewill Baptist Church.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lottie Mitchell; brother, Tony Mitchell; and two wives.
Survivors include his daughters, Patty Mosley, Karen and Richard Harjo, Debbie and Jerry Boardman, Tina and Hollie Downs, Sherry Hooser and Jennifer and Gary Danheim; sons, Bobby Mitchell, Johnny Dean Mitchell and Timothy Clark; 17 grandchildren, Ronnie, Trish, Michael, Tammy, Anina, Jeremy, Brandy, Johnny, Aceson, Crystal, Brandon, Jared, Sienna, Nathan, Tommy, Austin and Ally; 15 great-grand children and one on the way; siblings, Bobby and Pat Mitchell, Alvie and Cleta Mitchell, Tina and Roy Davis and Betty Mitchell and Bob; and numerous other relatives and friends.
