NORMAN — James Kenneth Brown, 53, was born to Kenneth and Helen (Testerman) Brown on June 16, 1960, in Norman. He departed this life Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at his home in Norman.
James was a lifetime resident of Cleveland County. He grew up in Noble and graduated with the class of 1978. He was a member of the Noble High School Band and played the trumpet.
In 1978, he enlisted in the Oklahoma Air National Guard. While still active in the military, he gave 35 years of service to his country and had achieved the rank of chief master sergeant. James received the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Commendation Medal, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon/Rifle and the Humanitarian Service Medal.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those who survive him include his sister, Shawn Brown of Lone Grove; his companion, Tanya Doran of Yukon; two nieces, Robyn Rudd and Douglas Dowling of Norman and Jori Bell of Columbus, Ga.; one nephew, William Rudd of Crescent; one great nephew, Noah Bell; best friends Dana Senne of Noble and Tony Tate of Jones; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Noble Assembly of God Church.
Interment will be at Noble IOOF Cemetery with military honors.
