NORMAN — Phyllis Hammett Boren passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Meadowlakes Nursing Home in Oklahoma City. Phyllis was born July 5, 1928, in Dallas to Richard L. and Rueby (Landren) Hammett. She was raised in Charleston, S.C., and Holdenville.

On July 26, 1947, she married Homer H. Foster and to this union had three children. On April 20, 1964, she married the love of her life, William C. Boren, and to this union had one son.

Bill was an avid OU fan, and it didn’t take him long to convert her to Boomer Sooner. She attended all of the games and sat so close to Bill in the press box, she could turn around and wave to him. When she could not attend the games, you can bet she was sitting in front of the television watching them. She became a fan of the Thunder and watched every game she could on television. Her health prevented her from going to a live game, but she was always there in spirit.

Phyllis was a very loving and caring woman. She was always the life of the party and all of her friends loved being with her anywhere.

She was the best mom ever to her four children, Janice Foster Craig, Robert Warner Foster, Sammy Houston Foster and William Phillips Boren. Her children were her pride and joy, and she supported them in every way. She was a wonderful grandmother to Donald Houston Craig, Summer Mauldin-Kindrick, Richard Foster, Lanita Foster-Thralls, Cody Foster, Sammy Foster, Ashley Boren and Conner Boren. Phyllis had nine great-grandchildren, Jacob, Caydon, Kylie, Will, Jake, Cora, Clare, Noah and Addison.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Boren; son, Robert W. Foster; her mother and father; and her five siblings.

We love you, Mom, and you will forever live in our hearts.

The family would like to thank and extend our appreciation to the staff at Meadowlakes Nursing Home and to Aleve Hospice for taking good care of our mother.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at the IOOF Cemetery in Norman.

Arrangements are being handled by Moore Funeral and Cremation.
