Vesta was very involved in the community. She served on the board of the Salvation Army, ABWA, Mission Norman and Friends to International Students at OU.
Vesta loved her life as a mother, wife and homemaker. She loved to read and to go to OU basketball games (both women’s and men’s). She also loved music in the form of singing, playing the piano and even taking violin lessons on her father’s violin at the age of 70. Vesta loved Sunday dinners and lazy daisy cake. She enjoyed being teased and teasing right back. She had a great sense of humor. Vesta will be remembered as a very cheerful person with a positive attitude. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed being around them.
Vesta was preceded in death by her parents, all siblings, husband and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by three sons, David “Stan” and wife Sharon, Marion and wife Dianne, all of Norman, and Gene and wife Xeniya of Laguna Niguel, Calif. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, David (Monica) of Watkinsville, Ga., Mike (Ilia) of Melbourne, Fla., Tracy (Karl) Zimmerman of Frisco, Texas, Mark (Heather) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Sean (Renee) of Norman, Scott (Carol) of Norman, Anne “Katie” of Ladera Ranch, Calf., and Elizabeth “Betsy” Simmons (Drew) of Phoenix.
