Deborah Virginia Webb

NORMAN — Deborah Virginia Webb, 61, of Norman, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Norman Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Debbie was born April 24, 1952, in Tulsa.

Debbie graduated from Wagoner High School in 1970 as valedictorian and earned her Bachelor and Master of Education degrees in 1974 and 1979 from the University of Oklahoma. With her love for teaching and inspiring students to reach their fullest potential, Debbie enjoyed a 29-year career teaching at Noble Elementary, Little Axe Elementary and Moore Highland East Junior High School, touching thousands of students with caring love and discipline, primarily as a seventh-grade reading teacher.

While in college, she was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. She had a keen love for being involved in church, decorating and collecting recipes. She also enjoyed going to OU football and basketball games. Debbie was a life-long member of the Norman Chapter of PEO and was active in the Kappa Delta Alumni Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Leigh Penn Jr. and Virginia Hersman Penn of Wagoner; and her brother, Melvin Leigh Penn III of Norman.

Debbie is survived by her husband of 39 years, Phil of the home; daughters Julie Bradford and her husband Michael of Norman and Megan Fields and her husband Jon of Edmond; and her two triplet brothers, Frank Penn and his wife Carolyn of Durham, N.C., and children Alex of Baltimore, Md., and Jeff of Durham, N.C., and Michael Penn and wife Donna of Plano, Texas; and sister-in-law, Betsy Penn of Norman.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Debbie to the First Baptist Norman Ignite Campaign, 211 W. Comanche St., Norman, OK 73069.

The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Norman.

Arrangements for Debbie and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.
