NORMAN — Jack Dale Spence, 83, died January 18, 2013, in Lexington, Okla.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel in Purcell. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Jamison Cemetery east of Harrah under the direction of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Jack was born April 25, 1929 in Mustang, Okla. to Thomas and Myrtle (Smith) Spence. He raised and graduated school in Mustang. Jack was inducted into the United States Army in 1951, proudly serving in Germany for a few years. January 9, 1954 he married Dorothy Hester in Choctaw, Okla. Jack was employed for the Western Electric Telephone Company which became Alcatel-Lucent Technologies. After his retirement in 1981, he and Dorothy moved to Lexington. Jack was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening, feeding the birds, repairing old tractors and machinery for his neighbors.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Myrtle Spence; son, Dale Spence; siblings, Armilda Newlon, Thomas Spence, Jr. and Wendell Spence. Survivors include his wife Dorothy of 59 years; brother, Gene Spence; special niece and nephew, Barbara and John Conrad; and many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
