Rerun Junction honored by city

NORMAN — Services for Wayne D. Stanfield, 69, of Lexington, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Primrose Chapel with the Rev. Rick Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Primrose Funeral Service. Arrangements are by Primrose Funeral Service.

Wayne was born Oct. 24, 1943, to Ulysses and Gladys Victoria (Cox) Stanfield in Wewoka. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for 11 years at General Motors and then as an aircraft mechanic for five years at Tinker Air Force Base.

Wayne enjoyed bowling, especially at his favorite venue, Planet Bowl where he developed many lifelong friends. He loved the sport of boxing in which he participated in his younger years and later trained his three sons to compete. One of his favorite pastimes was to take people out to eat because he so much enjoyed their company. He also enjoyed taking family trips to Branson, Silver Dollar City and Florida.

Wayne was an avid volunteer at his church helping with various maintenance repairs. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them very much. Also, he was very proud of his three boys and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Forrest Stanfield, Carl Stanfield, and Randy Stanfield.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline Stanfield, of the home; three sons, Wayne Stanfield and his wife, Charlotte, Randy Stanfield and his wife, Shonsea, Wendell Stanfield and his wife, Kelli; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Wendell Stanfield and his wife, Jeri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
