NORMAN — Myrtle Faye Adams, 88, of Norman, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at her home in Norman. Myrtle was born Feb. 9, 1924, in Marlow to Louis Edgar and Mattie Maddox.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Noble IOOF Cemetery.
She was an active and faithful member of Alameda Baptist Church. Myrtle was a loving and supportive mother and a dear friend to many. During WWII, she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” in an ammunition plant. Later on, she was employed by Gilt Edge Dairy. In the 1980s, she went to work for First National Bank, which later became Liberty Bank, where she retired in 1986.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Cilfford Adams; her two brothers, Samuel Leroy Maddox and Thurman Maddox; and her three sisters, Dorothy Blubaugh, Georgia Cantwell and Willie Cantwell.
She is survived by her daughters Carolyn Sue Adams of the home and Jean Peace and her husband John of Norman; grandsons Jim Peace and his wife Sandra and Bob Peace and his wife Michelle; and three great-grandsons, John, Benjamin and Wesley Peace.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Primrose Funeral Service.
