NORMAN — Richard Lyle Carleton, 66, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, in Oklahoma City. He was born May 22, 1946, in Great Falls, Mont., to Merlin and Christine (Durbin) Carleton.
He was united in marriage on June 22, 1974, in Goldsby to Tricia Rodgers.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the Havenbrook Funeral Home chapel.
Richard enjoyed attending auctions and traveling with his wife, Tricia. They were members of PASSPORTS, Norman’s Sister Cities and International Connections Organization. They loved to travel to visit their sister cities and other locations.
He was a member of AA and the OKVRC radio club and enjoyed collecting antique radios. He loved spending time with his family, whether that was going to the gun range with his daughter, attending Girl Scout meetings with his daughters, watching monster trucks and singing nursery rhymes with his grandchildren or camping with the family. Richard will be remembered for his jams and salsa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard is survived by his wife, Tricia Carleton; two daughters, T. Nicole Carleton Santiago of Midwest City and Erica Pelfery and husband Dustin of Oklahoma City; one brother, Roger Carleton and wife Sharon of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister, Sherry Nelson and husband Kyle of Hays, Kan.; three grandchildren, Ronnie Norwood II, Nakai Santiago and Brock Pelfery; and one grandchild on the way.
Richard served his country as a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a mechanic electrician for Unicco, retiring in 2007 after 30 years of service.
Arrangements for Richard and his family have been placed in the care of the Vice family at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
