Two favorite holiday happenings take place Monday and Thursday

— Mark your calendars. Two local holiday traditions repeat this week. Both are what makes Norman such a special community.
The singing Sullivan family will hold its 15th annual holiday concert 7 p.m. Monday at OU's Sharp Hall inside the Catlett Music Center. It's the family's gift to the community. There is no charge for admission but baskets are passed for donations to the Women's Resource Center.
Three generations of Sullivans take the stage. Elizabeth "Betty" Sullivan, her children, a daughter-in-law and now Betty's grandchildren will sing holiday favorites and some of their own. Last year's inclement weather proved the family can draw a crowd come rain or snow.
Later in the week, the 22nd annual Free Christmas Day Community Dinner will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Norman High School Commons.
Some volunteers say it wouldn't be Christmas without working there. Hundreds of dinners are served with the motto: "No One Should Eat Alone on Christmas Day."
