NORMAN — The May Fair, the Assistance League of Norman’s annual gift to the community, opens its tents Saturday and Sunday in Andrews Park. It’s the 40th year for the fair, which began as a one-day, country fair-themed event held the Saturday before Mother’s Day.
Children often used the occasion to buy or make their mothers a present. The event moved to Reaves Park briefly but moved back to Andrews, where it has found a permanent home.
The art, entertainment, food, fun and fellowship helps fund Assistance League philanthropic projects, including the ever-needed Operation School Bell, which clothes children each year as they return to school.
This year’s fair includes an Art & Sole 5K Run at 8 a.m. with a 2K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. This year’s featured artist is Tim Kenney, of Norman. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
We’ll see you there.
