Stretching safety nets

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

Well, the new year is upon us and as of today (Wednesday) there are several thousand Oklahomans who will lose health care services through Medicaid. Why is this, you may ask?

Because our governor, Mary Fallin, and her Republican wing nuts advised (threatened) her to refuse $52 million dollars from the ACA. Now that money is going to other states with more intelligent and caring governors, even though we are paying our federal taxes.

Our taxes are now going to other states for health care for their citizens. While other states have help with health care, Oklahoma citizens wait in ERs, go without dental care and do without basic care until they go to hospitals, where the highest cost health care is passed on to everyone in higher health insurance premiums.

So while our poor, our veterans and our elderly decide between their drugs and food, cut their pills in half and stretch our safety nets to breaking, we all say “Happy 2014” to Gov. Fallin and her Republican cronies. Happy New Year to all.
