Price dips at the pump

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — In tourist areas, the price of gasoline is often dependent on the number of visitors in town. The more tourists, the higher the pump price.

We don’t usually have that situation in Norman in December. Pump prices have dipped in the last few days. AAA Oklahoma reports that the average price Tuesday was $3.053 per gallon, 26 cents a gallon lower than the national average of $3.314.

AAA, which surveys self-service gasoline prices in 300 Oklahoma cities, said Norman’s average price was $3.037 a gallon Tuesday. Tulsa’s price was $2.996. Norman’s price at this time last year was $2.951 per gallon.

With the holidays over, wintry weather could discourage travel. More folks staying home means more gasoline available which, in theory, ought to push the price even lower.
