Thanks for supporters

NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:

All of us at Aging Service Inc. wish to thank the many businesses and individuals whose contributions and donations helped to support our efforts to host the fifth annual Gingerbread House Competition Event at the Moore Public Library.

The event was originally scheduled for Dec. 6, but the winter weather did not cooperate and we had to reschedule the event for Dec. 13.

We had 33 gingerbread houses in the competition. Many were created by Platt College students from the Culinary Arts Program under the leadership of Gene Leiterman. There were six categories in our competition.

The winner of the Kit category was Jennifer Miller from the Inspirations Senior Counseling Program. The winners of the Family category were Kay Olsen and Emery Green.

The winners of the Teen category were Tristan Hayes and Kayden Wyatt. Bobbe, Kaitlyn and Cristina from the Norman Housing Authority won the Adult category. The Corporate category was won by Leta Mastroni with Cleveland County Abstract.

The Professional category was won by Sung Jin Kim from Platt College and Best of Show was won by Cindy Johnston, Malise Flowney and Felicia Smith also of Platt College Culinary Arts Program.

We felt that all 33 houses were spectacular and we appreciate all the hard work and effort that went into creating these houses.

Funds raised by the Gingerbread House Competition event will be used to help fund the ASI Special Assistance Program that helps seniors who have unmet needs and limited financial resources to meet those needs. Again, we thank everyone for their support.

KATHLEEN WILSON

ASI executive director
